Deanna Rand

Deanna Rand is an independent, Licensed Professional Counselor as well as Registered Art Therapist. She has worked in the mental health field for over 13 years and has  provided individual and group counseling services to a partial hospital program and community mental health center. She has experience helping individuals work through substance abuse issues, relationship difficulties, mental health issues (including depression, anxiety and bipolar disorders), grief and loss and has provided services targeting stress management, coping  and recovery. She also provides art enrichment experiences to children where the goal is to strengthen skills, improve self esteem and confidence, develop problem solving strategies and foster creativity and self expression.

She received her Masters Degree in Art Therapy from Emporia State University in 1995 and her Masters Degree in Clinical Psychology from Emporia State University in 1996. She is a member of the Kansas Art Therapy Association, the American Art Therapy Association and the Missouri Mental Health Counselors Association. She has co-chaired the 2009 and 2010 Kansas Art Therapy Conferences and is an active Board Member. Deanna has been an adjunct faculty member for Avila University. She has also been instrumental in developing a supervision for supervisors group and believes in the importance of ongoing training and support.

Deanna utilizes several types of therapies in her work. She provides a client-centered approach and works hard to tailor the most effective treatment strategy to each individual.

She utilizes art therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness and supportive therapy. She also utilizes an art educational approach with the art enrichment classes for children/adolescents.
